The AEE Kit Bike is for sale

The replica of the AEE kit bike that Dave and I have worked on is for sale (as a roller, no engine). I do not have the funds to finish it. I listed it on Ebay today but would love to have an AEE fan obtain it. I'll offer it for $4,500 to anyone who is a member of this site as of today (I have a buy it now price of $5,000 on Ebay). The parts alone cost this much IF you could find them all. AEE parts include the frame (10 degree rake), ultra rare square glide, mini drum and axle, mini drum brake anchor kit, headlight bracket, mirror, risers, seats (recovered by Haifley Brothers), sissy bar, shift/brake pegs, kickstand. As original oil tank, battery box, handlebars, switch panel, modified Wassel tank, Cibie headlights, Avon 5x16 tire (new) , new front tire. Bike is wired and runs. I've attached some pictures including one of the original completed kit bike in yelolow. It was on the cover of Street Chopper more than once and in the AEE catalog many times. We did all the work, you mold, paint and chrome and you are done!

Molly Ride 2014

Dear Friends of Molly

The 4^th annual “Ride on Molly” Memorial Ride has been scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2014.  This year’s ride will originate from the site of our first 2 memorial rides, the very popular Temecula Creek Inn.  Our ride will take us on one of Molly’s favorite routes to Borrego Springs, and hopefully the desert will be in bloom.  Even if not in bloom, Borrego Springs is a beautiful desert location and lunch is planned at the Red Ocotillo, located in the lodge built in 1948.  This is truly a throwback to the 50’s and an experience you won’t want to miss.

As in the past, all monies contributed by the attendees will support a college fund for Molly’s daughter Brooke.  Contributions are not mandatory for your participation, but Brooke and Terry sincerely appreciate any and all donations.  If you are able to contribute, please bring your check made out to “Molly Memorial Education Fund”.  If you are not able to attend but wish to contribute, a check made payable to “Molly Memorial Education Fund” can be mailed to:

A special group rate of $189.00/night has been arranged, and a limited room block has been confirmed for Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10.  Book your rooms early to ensure the group rate by calling the hotel and reserving under the Molly Memorial Ride room block.  Rooms will be available for booking for either one night or two nights.  Due to the early ride departure time on Saturday, many of us prefer to arrive on Friday, May 9 and enjoy the Temecula hospitality…….and the occasional cocktail at the Inns bar!

The planned ride route accommodates motorcycles and automobiles, so bring your family and friends along and enjoy the day as we continue to pay our respects to a great man known simply as “MOLLY”.

wing tank on an odd build

Here is a shot of what appears to be an AEE wing tank on an odd looking build....also a side draft Weber setup similar to what AEE offered including the air filter.

Big Twin is back at Bones Legacy in Las Vegas

Big Twin arrived safe and sound back in Las Vegas. Now they will begin the process of paint, chrome and upholstery. Dave Brackett fixed all the mechanical and structural ills of his creation and now it is on to complete resurrection!

Dave Brackett shipped off Big Twin back to Las Vegas and Bones Legacy for the completion of the restoration.
Sad to see her go but I was honored to be able to see her once again after all these years. Dave is a master fabricator and I do believe he resurrected the mess that Big Twin had become.

Molly's paint on Big Twin

I took a number of pictures of the paint as it currently exists on Big Twin. Should it be repainted back to the original red (I hope!) this paint job will be lost. Notice the depth and shadowing in some areas and the layer of red in the shot where the paint has been ground down. Tons and tons of flake on this 5 wheeler.

AEE Choppers Big Twin and Kit Bike

I visited with Dave Brackett AEE Choppers famous designer/engineer and all around nice guy this weekend. He has completed his portion of the restoration of Big Twin for Bones Legacy of Las Vegas. He also had finished cleaning up some issues on my Kit Bike (which I picked up and brought home). I got in Big Twin and you can see it was not designed for someone my size! Great fun....enjoy the photos.....

I ran across this photo and thought this guy really represents the roots....you can tell just looking at this guy he loves to ride, loves his bike and loves that wind in his face......

Big Twin back on it's wheels

Dave Brackett has got AEE Choppers Big Twin back on it's wheels (well 3 of the 5). He is nearly done with his restoration of the mechanical portion of Big Twin. I will be with Dave Friday and get more pictures before it gets returned to Bones Legacy in Las Vegas for the completion of the restoration.

Here you see the exhaust install in progress. Also a great shot of all that is going on under the seat area. Dave Brackett is killing it with his work and restoration of his original AEE Choppers award winning build.......Bones Legacy will soon be able to finish this incredible one of a kind 5 wheeler and put it on display......most people don't know that besides being on the cover of Street Chopper and AEE Choppers catalogs Big Twin was also featured in Hot Rod magazine, won the Grand National Roadster show (motorcycle division) and toured for years on the show circuit....

Big Twin pipes, tank and seat pan.....

Dave Brackett, of AEE Choppers fame, continues to make incredible progress on Big Twin. Pipes going in....going to be 4 of them up and out near the license plate on the rear as they were originally. Hopefully soon I'll have pictures of the wheelie bars too. Bones Legacy of Las Vegas is going to have an amazing article of chopper history some day soon at their place to show off to the world!

And here is the seat pan Dave Brackett just built for Big Twin. Upholstery for three goes across the back and up beside the tank are arms of more material for the rider. Bones Legacy should be very happy and proud to have this superb chopper and incredible original builder on hand for the restoration.

Big Twin oil tank and foot peg.

Here you can see the oil tank, there is a tube that goes up and through the fuel tank. Fuel tank has two caps, one for oil one for fuel. More of Dave's great work shows in the foot peg setup fro the driver. I am going up to see Dave next month and hope that Big Twin is still there so I can take some more pictures. I'll be picking up the AEE Kit Bike that Dave has helped me with. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it next year!

This was always my favorite view of Big Twin....nothing else like it and she is coming back to life!

Big Twin tank and shifter

Dave Brackett keeps adding to the magic of the Big Twin restoration. He got the fuel/oil tank (note the two caps) mounted up and the shifter put back in place. He told me that he simplified the linkage of the shifter compared to what he had originally installed (is not visible). Big Twin is really coming together, next up is Dave will fabricate the exhaust system that goes down and under then exits high on the body by the license plate. He is a master at this and indeed built exhaust systems for many of the famous racing cars back in the day including a land speed record holder.

Found a picture of my AEE Kit Bike seats on the Haifley Brothers blog. They recovered the original AEE seats to perfection.
